Pickleball History
The game originated in Washington State in 1965. The two friends, Joel Pritchard and Bill Bell, were finding novel ways to entertain their kids on a summer evening. Thus, they faced complicated challenges in establishing the new gameplay in their backyard. Their other friend Barney McCullum visited their playground of Pickleball the following weekend.
However, those three friends refined the game rules, named it, and upgraded the equipment. The first Pickleball tournament was held in Tukwila, Washington, in 1976. Furthermore, in 1984, the first pickleball paddle was commercially manufactured by Arelen Paranto. Then multiple companies manufactured the paddles according to the basic rules. Over time, the game has gained popularity across the United States.
